Try & Decide on factory reinstall

Thread needs solution

Can I use 2013's Try & Decide for a factory reinstall on a dell 8300? or is that too radical (for one, the reinstall will wipe out the current reg and 2013 install as well as everything else.) Does Try&Decide keep its own vm copy? Will it work?

Why don't you do a disk and partition backup?

thanks Pat. Everything is well backed up in several places and disk space more than adequate. The problem may be a subtle hardware failure, but difficult to diagnose (hardware has passed all tests and deep diagnoses.) reinstall is only next step I can think of that will confirm or not if hardware is involved. Try & decide would permit me to track the evolution of the problems from initial state in a methodical way.

I'm guessing your answer is a 'no' on whether Try & decide can handle a complete reinstall. But its an interesting question. Perhaps I'll just boot up in a clone of the primary and see what T&D does with that.

What is your exact scenario? Start T&D, do a factory reinstall, then use T&D to revert changes? It won't work as factory reinstall overwrite windows partition completely, with boot sector and before T&D driver is started.

Hi Dev. sequence would have been to activate T&D, then boot and initiate the reinstall sequence from pre-boot. I kind of guessed T&D isn't smart enough to figure out what's happening and redirect the entire reinstall to its own vm space. Thought I'd ask, just in case.
