restore with Acronis TrueImage Home 11

Thread needs solution

I made a full backup and a series of incremental backups with Acronis, then my system crashed last Friday and won't boot up even in safe mode. Can I use the Acronis boot disk I made a couple of years ago to restore the operating system to its original state? Crash was due to a registry file error or missing registry file. Many thanks, I'm new to the restore side of things...never have had to do this and don't know what to expect. Juan Muzquiz

You posted in a wrong forum- should be 'True Image Home , older versions'.
If the boot disk is made by the same version (11) that was used to create backups (that's possible if current version is, 11 not 2011), and backup was a disk/partition backup, it's possible. If you never booted your machine with that disk, it's possible that it won't recognize hard disk controller or won't boot at all and restore will be impossible.

Juan,

Here is a zip file which contains a slide presentation on how to badkup and restore the old version 11. Perhaps this can help.

Thanks, I e got a question: I made a full backup then made numerous incremental backups. Which one do I restore from?

Thanks again,

Juan

Grover: I made a full backup a couple of months ago, then made about a dozen incremental backups. Which one do I restore from? The zip example illustration assumed only a full backup was made.

Thanks,

Juan

Choose whichever incremental you want to restore. As long as all previous backups in the chain are present in the folder, True Image will find the files it needs.

Thanks much for your timely reply. I decided to restore from the full backup figuring it'll pick up all incrementals since the full b'up date is the same as the most recent incremental. Restore is underway and I've got all my fingers and toes crossed...never done a clean OS install followed by a restore. Thanks again for making yourself available to help dummies like me!
