Which backup to use
Using TI home 2011. I have 2 HD's. My primary is the D drive which has win7 on it. The original drive C has winxp on it. My D drive crashed with an "uncountable boot volume" error. The computer doesn't even see the D drive now.
"My Backups" folder indicates "local disc C" and "my partitions" images. I believe the image I want to restore is the "my partitions" image.
Can anyone confirm that I am correct?

The images are only from the windows 7 drive. That is the only one I want to restore, the Xp drive still works fine. BTW, the Xp drive would be considered the master drive and the win7 drive would be considered the slave on the cable arrangement. We rarely if ever access the Xp drive

The restore of your images could be tricky.
Was the "D" drive a separate physical drive?
Do you have the Windows 7 install disks and product ID?
Was Windows 7 installed onto "D" after Windows XP was already setup and installed on "C".
Do you know if there was a Windows 7 System Reserved partition on either drive?
Were you using any kind of boot manager?

First. The D drive is a separate physical drive and always has been.
Second. I have the Win7 install disc and the product ID #
Third. Yes, Win7 was installed on the D drive after XP was installed and working properly on the C drive.
Fourth. If my memory is correct there is a separate partition on both the C & D drives for Win7.
Lastly. I'm not sure if I am using a boot Mgr or not. The only way I may be able to clarify that is to say that if the system is powered up from a completely powered down state, a black screen prompt comes up and asks me if I would like to use the Win7 O.S. or if I would like to " use a previous version of windows" (Windows XP).
I hope this helps. Thanks for continuing to assist.
