Failed to open item when exploring all backups

Thread needs solution

Hi,

My backup disk is running out of space so I want to clean up some old backups.

I'm running Acronis TrueImage 2013 build 6514 along with the Plus Pack.

I have one backup defined on my system that creates a backup of my three disks to a 4 TB external hard drive.

1) Selected Explore All Backups from the ribbon menu (gear drop down)
2) A dialog box appears with a title of True Image Plus Pack by Acronis
3) Error message: "Failed to open item G:\Temp\My partitions_diff_b4_S13_v1.tib"
There is a small red x to the right of this message, but the button is not active.

4) A waiting circle swirls in the middle of the dialog.

I've waited over an hour to see if anything else happens. The task manager shows no activity and all disks are quiet.

My backups are stored on the G: drive but are in the following directory:

G:\My backups\My partitions

I have no idea why Acronis would be looking for something in the temp directory.

After this error occured, I did a Validate All Backups. Acronis didn't report any problems. I re-tried the problem above, and still get the error.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Steve,

I have never used "Explore all backups" from the gear icon (until today). It appears that this function opens (or attempts to open) all backups that are in the database that Acronis maintains in True Image. Apparently your database contains one or more entries for backup files that do not exist.

Normally if I wish to explore a backup, on the Backup and Recovery tab, right click on the backup task or click on the associated gear icon on the right hand side on the task and select "Recover Files". This only opens (explores) the backup files contained in the selected task, not "all" the backups that Acronis may be tracking in it's database.

Fixing the issue (with Explore all Backups) is another matter all together.

James,

Thanks for letting me know about the Backup/Recovery tab method to get to the Files/Folders list. This version generated a lot of errors about missing files, but gave me the option to ignore them.

I was then able to delete several old versions. When I went back to the Explore All Backups option everything worked properly.
