What are you backing up and where are you pointing to for the destination?

Is this a disk/partition backup or a file/folders backup?

trying to backup my main hard-drive to an external hard drive that is 100% empty...i either get the above error or a timed out error

"Write error" doesn't mean that the disk is full.

Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.

drive is fine on all accounts here is a copy of what the log file is saying

event 9 on up says disk is full, but i have just wiped and formatted the disk prior to this attempt to run acronis to back up my main hard drive.

i have uploaded a txt file of what the lof files says

According to your log file, you are backing up two partitions in this backup task:

vista drive (C:),
and
sata drive (T:).

What is the total size of the data on these two partitions combined?

"t" is not being backed up, just "c" drive to "u" drive, why it is trying to write to "t" i have no idea because it is not set to be backed up...the 2 combined sizes would be to big for "U" which is the destination drive. how do i fix that?

Create a new task. Point your new backup task to a new empty folder on your destination disk.

The following line from your log shows the T: drive included:

Create Backup Archive From: vista drive (C:), sata drive (T:) To file:U:\My backups\vista drive (C).tib
