Disk Clone hangs after reboot in Win 7 pro 64-bit
I upgraded from Acronis TI 2012, and now can't clone disks. I have read on the forums that disk cloning is not recommended, and that backup and restore should be used instead.
I am not trying to back up my hard drive. I make periodic clones of all primary hard drives in my several computers so that if there is a failure I can pop the clone in and keep working. I do not want to make a backup, and then have to restore it. I just want a cloned disk that will work when put into the computer.
I managed to get it to work on one computer (I have a 3 computer license), but on the other it clearly is not working because after the reboot the USB devices are not initialized (no lights on keyboard or mouse) and therefore the USB dock with the clone disk in it is not seen. I get the error message that the drive may not be functioning, but without keyboard or mouse activity, I can't proceed.
This is clearly a glitch in Trueimage. Any ideas on how to get this feature of the program working again? Should I switch back to Acronis 2012 and get my money back for the 2013 version?

Thanks for the input. I may try switching to Image for Windows software which seems to be well suited for disk cloning. I have had too many problems over the years with standard backups because they are semi-useless if your boot drive fails. Hard drives are cheap now, so it makes much more sense to keep up-to-date clones of computer boot drives handy in case of a main drive failure. Then getting back up and running only takes a few minutes to swap out a drive.
