Issue with mapped drives

Thread needs solution

I am using True Image 2013 build 6514 to backup files from a mapped drive to a local USB3 disk.

This was all working well until about a week ago (which seemed to coincide with some Windows updates).

I now get a failure and the log shows File or Folder [mapped drive location] cannot be found.

The drives can be accessed ok through Windows. I have tried re-mapping and also deleted and re-added the logon details in Windows Vault, but still get the error.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive. e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\
But, no forum user has yet confirmed that.

Yes I am using

\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

type addressing, but I am backing up from the NAS (in this case a server with a mapped drive)

Mark,

Just so that I understand fully, you are backing up the contents of a NAS to another machine acting as a Server?

Is TI 2013 still able to see the NAS and the other machine?

Are you unable to access the Server directly?

Have you tried running a repair install of 2013 just in case a Windows Update managed to break something?

Thanks for the reply.

Not quite right, I am backing up files from network drives (on a Windows server) to a local USB3 drive attached to my PC.

I can access the server via the mapped drive ok from Windows, and TI 2013 can also see the mapped drives when I go into settings.

Yes I did try the repair, but still got the issue.

It turns out that selecting the source via the network option rather than the Computer did the trick. Why that has changed I don't know but now its working

Thanks for letting us know the 'trick'.
