Could you please clarify, is Acronis vmProtect installed as Virtual Appliance or as Windows Agent? If it is installed as Windows Agent, so please check if you are logged in under the same user account, under that you have created the task.

Acronis vmProtect 9 has two installation options: as Virtual Appliance http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/AVMP8/index.html#19023.html or as Windows Agent http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/AVMP8/index.html#14882.html. Which of these options did you choose during the installation?
