TI Home 2010 won't RESTORE!!?!

Thread needs solution

I backed up my PC hard drive with Home 2010. The software said backup complete. Just to check the software, I removed the drive and replaced it (as if my drive quit). I booted from the program disk, started restoring my files, and a dialog appears that said 'Restore Operation Failed'!! If I didn't test this, I would be in a MESS!! Why doesn't this software work?? What's worse than anything is I thought I had a backup!! I tried the whole operation again with the same result! Am I missing something?? Isn't this software supposed to work? I would appreciate any input. Thanks. jm@rcs-1.com

First try validating the backup using ATI from within windows. If it checks out, then try the same thing use the BootCD. This can tell you if the linux version of ATI that's onthe bootCD can recognize the file on your hardware. IF not, you'll need to contact chat to get an iso to burn a boot CD with diff drivers.

If even in windows the backup can't be validated, then it's more liekly a problem with some of your memory.

Fyi, ATI validation works like this: when making a backup, ATI creates checksums and embed them in the file. When validating, it reads the file and generates the checksums from that read and compares them to the embedde checksums -- it anything is off, ATI declares the file invalid. If "validation" succeeds" then you know the file is okay. If a file can't be validated it usually means theres some read write problem involving the hardware or memory. When the problem occurs only with the boot disk, it usually means the linucx hardware drivers aren't adequate for your hardware.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Bob,

Since you are an owner of the Acronis True Image Home 2010 license, you can download the appropriate ISO file (the workaround provided by Scott) under your account.

Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media (the product key should be registered). Download the file.
You can find the information on how to download the appropriate ISO file in this article. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.

Also, if the program detects the archive corruption, please see this article for troubleshooting steps.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
