Recovery of emails

Completely new to recovering a back up. I have lost my all Outlook my emails from my inbox and tried to recover them from Acronis backup. I get as far as locating the emails and starting the recovery process and it starts to calculate the time 5min then 12 ...43....48 then less than 1min. The recovery bar completes and it says recovery successful, but nothing appears in the inbox. Where am I going wrong. Please keep it simple if possible. Thanks Stan
