Protect archive from corruption. Need advice.

Thread needs solution

Hi my friends.

I need your help. I had an acronis archive, which i have used 2 months without problem. One day i want to recovery it, but acronis says that archive corrupted, but 3-4 days ago i have restored that archive. I can't understand why it becomed corrupted.

Now i have made a new archive, which is very important archive and i very afraid that it can corrupt again. Can you advice me how to protect archive from corruptation. I have vaildated archive, it is workable.

Thanks.

"Corrupted" is, unfortunately, a rather non-specific error message, in spite of its rather specific sounding term. It really just means that ATI can't validate the archive, which can be caused by disk errors or connection errors, rather than any problems with the .tib file itself.

Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.

I recovery my archive to other computers via lan, so i didnt use any removable drive or hub.

But if i recovered that archive with the same ATI bootable disk, from the same HDD to the same HDD, how can we understand it?

As I said:
Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Until you've done such tests, we don't know if that drive is error-free.

Often "corrupted" errors are in fact due to disk errors. Sometimes copying the .tib archive to a good drive will allow it to validate and be used for restores.

Users of True Image over networks often have issues due to so much throughput on the router. Many routers can become overloaded with data, especially if there is other traffic at the same time.

I will check drives, but i have checked with HD Tune, drive was without errors, but i will check drive as you say.

Thank you my friend for help.

BTW, many of us use more than one backup drive. A backup drive can fail, and your backups could be lost. By using at least two backup drives, perhaps in rotation as I do, you create much greater backup security.
