Tried to clone one external HD to another identicl drive last night and it completely wiped one of the drives clean. Windows doesn't even see it. What am I not doing correctly?

Which one did it wipe, the source or the destination? If you didn't let the process complete, the destination drive will be left unallocated and will have to be formatted before Windows will see it. You should be able to use Disk Management to format.

Ah, sorry to hear that. This is why the regulars on the forum always advise beginners to use the Backup then Restore method to make a second bootable drive. I believe the older versions were prone to wiping the source if you were not careful. Which version and build number do you have?
