Bug Report: Try & Decide renders PC unbootable

Thread needs solution

I'd like to provide a bug report. I have not found a dedicated place just for that, so here goes it.

I'm using the latest (for start of August 2013) version of Acronis True Image 2013. Turned on Try & Decide. Protected partition was system Partition C, with data persisted on D-drive, non-system. I've installed new Visual Studio 2013 from Microsoft on C drive with couple computer reboot while in Try&Decide mode. Reboots were not forced, but not through Try & Decide.

Once I've decided to keep the changes, I've selected "keep the changes with restart" in Try & Decide and after reboot I only found black screen with text "status of commit 0%". And that sat like that for a at least 20 minutes. I have found an issue reported for True Image 2012: http://kb.acronis.com/content/23880 but that is for 2013 and I'm using 2013. Can't believe this was not fixed. Am I missing something?

How big is the data that you protected? T&D process can be very lengthy...

Hello trailmax,

if you didn't make any forced reboots while being in Try and Decide mode, the KB article mentioned has nothing to do with situation you've faced.

The issue described in following KB is caused exactly by hard reboot.

Could you please clarify how long the committing of changes lasted and did you wait till the end of the operation or canceled it?

Since changes you made were significant, the committing of them could last relative long and premature cancelation could make the system unbootable.

Thank you.
