Nonstop Backup continues to stop

Thread needs solution

My Nonstop Backup continues to stop. Sometimes I can restart it...other times I can't. Is there a log or something I can look at to tell why it is stopping? I'm running Windows 7....64 bit.

thought I saw a thread on this. Didn't find it, so started a new. bumping this so it ends up close to the other. I'm also using w7 64bit home. NSB worked for nearly a week. But today it keeps shutting it self off. Just about as fast as I turn it on. And no reason given.

Can you check your "Time Explorer Storage" folder on the drive you selected as storage for NSB.

I have problems when this grows to 100GB. I dont have a solution at this point.

What TI build are you running ?

Looks like we got a responce from them in thread http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4580#new
I'll be posting there to help keep all the info in one place on this problem.

When I try to turn on Continuous Backup, I get an error stating that I do not have enough room. Yet there are 2 external USB drives with over 100gb on each. It lets me select drive C for protection; but never creates the acronis partiton where this continuous backup is supposed to take place?? ESB drives are E: and F:

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Walter, I've not had that problem, plenty of others with NSB but not that one ;)

Are any of your partitions close to full ? Just in case it is trying to create a temp file somewhere.

How far does it get into the process of enabling NSB - does it give you this error immediately ?

When you select the storage partition (drive) how much space does the NSB setup wizard show as being available to store the Non-stop backup data and is this well in excess of the data you are expecting to backup ?

Hello all,

Thank you very much for all of your posts. Please accept my sincerest apologies for not replying earlier.

We are currently having multiple issues with Acronis Non Stop Backup, that is why I would really appreciate if you could create a report and submit it via our web form at your Acronis web-account from here and pressing start here.

To avoid confusion, may I please suggest to post any issues and case numbers to our main NSB thread which is located in this thread.

When submitting a support request, please provide the following information:
1. The build number of your Acronis software.
2. Your backup location, it will help us localize the issue
3. Please download the following utility to gather diagnostic information from the machine:

Run the downloaded file. The gathered information will be put in AcronisInfo.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.

After submitting a support request you will receive an automatic e-mail with a case number. I would really appreciate if you could paste the case number into the main NSB thread so that I can take personal care of these issues.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Thank you for answering me earlier. I believe I have solved my problem. Although I reloaded the software, it probably was not necessary. I followed your suggestions and although I do not understand why I was getting a message stating I had not had enough room to create a storage partition; even though I had well over 100GB free on an external USB drive (E:) and only 25GB to protect on my drive C:/; I eliminated all except my Documents and Settings Folder and it worked.

Question:
Does non-Stop require External Storage at least as big as the entire Drive C hard drive or is there or could there be a way to create this partition first and then turn on Non-Stop?

OK
For now its working and I will check this forum an see if I can help anyone else as well

Thank you

Hi,
My problem was that I was not even able to create the partition in the first place. I was getting a "Cannot find an acceptable partition to create storage message and NOT able to create or SELECT a partition manually" message. Just would not do anything.
-
Solved the problem by EXCLUDING everything on Drive C:\ except my Documents and Setting folder. Like magic,,, it said OK, created a partition on USB Drive E and starting NSB.
-
MY setting were:
E:\ 189gb 116gb free
F:\ 189gb 156gb free

Drive C:\ 232gb with 205gb free... As of now I can do NSB only on the Docs and Setting folder to USB drive E:\ Seems like a lot of partiton created to do NSB on around 25GB. Will time test and see what happens

Walter

I've come to the conclusion that my original NSB backup is corrupt. So NSB really isn't very useful. I installed another drive (drive B) and made it my backup drive and started NSB. It created a new backup and worked. I let it run a day and everything was OK. I then renamed the Time Explorer Storage folder on the original backup drive (drive A) ...stopped NSB on drive B...changed back to the drive A and started NSB. I was hoping this wouldn't work...therefore indicating some sort of hardware issue. However, it worked OK. I let it run for about a day with no issues. I then deleted the Time Explorer Storage folder from drive B and copied my renamed original backup Time Explorer Storage folder from drive A to drive B. I stopped NSB and changed over to drive B and the backup stops after a short time of "Preparing backup".

The conclusion.....NonStop Backup is useless.
