Kingston 128 SSD with software

Thread needs solution

I recently purchased a kingston SSD upgrade kit and followed the instructions to install the SSD in my desktop to upgrade my normal HDD. However when I boot to acronis cd/dvd, I get fatal error partition not found, etc. I then hit any button and it boots to Windows 7.

In the bios the cd/dvd is set to boot first and the hard drive is set to boot second, etc.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I am not sure if this is the correct forum but thought I would try here first.

Are you trying to restore an image or clone?

Using True Image try using the 'Add new hard disk' option first, this should initialise the disk and make it available to True Image.

Im upgrading the HDD so it would be a clone of the original drive. I am booting from dvd so if I cannot boot to dvd how would I be able to clone the os drive.

My mistake, I though this message was appearing after you had booted.

So just that I can fully understand your problem, you aren't able to boot your PC with the recovery media, correct?

Not sure what you have going on but I recently replaced my HDD with a 128 GB Kingston Hyper X SSD. Since you have a desktop (I have a small form factor model with a 3.5 inch HDD, so I had to leave the cover open to perform the operation) you should be able to do what I did. I connected the unformated SSD as drive 2 with some cables, and enabled the SATA port for the SSD in the BIOS on boot. Then went to Manage and partitioned and formatted the SSD. Only do a quick format!!!! And in the same format as was your HDD, most likely NTFS. Then I used the clone drive feature in tools and utilities in TI, in the automatic mode. It worked.
Shut-down, and placed the SSD in the SATA slot for the HDD. Turned off the recently enabled SATA port and I was done. Make sure that AHCI is enabled in the BIOS for the SSD!!! But don't change anything right away in BIOS if it isn't.A story about that.
