Disk and Partition Backup Issues

Thread needs solution

Hi, I'm running Win8 home premium. And recently upgraded to ATM 2014. I have set up a disk and partition BU and it ran OK as far as all messages indicated. However at some point in time when looking at the window that show all backups and their status it will indicate " Not Yet Backed Up" and of course there is no "Restore" button on the right side of the window. There is also a statement that there are 10 versions backed up, but when I use explorer to look at the BU disk it only shows one backup has occurred. In summary can someone please let me know if there is a way to clear out all records that may be contained in ATM 2014 so that I can start from scratch with a new BU setting and clean BU destination disk. Also when I try to delete a setup it gives two options, one to delete the backup setting and all files that are backed up and two a selection to retain the files and delete the BU setup. When I choose delete the entire setting and backed up data files ATM just continues to circle an arrow on the screen. I let this run that way for over two hours and there was no change, just a circling arrow.
Thanks, Richard

The listing of backup tasks named "not yet backed up" was caused by the default option "Scan for backups at startup" which searches your drives every startup for old backup files.

To stop this automatic searching, you will need to "Disable" this default scan. This link will show you how.

The same link will also show you how you can remove either all (or just individual ones) of the "not yet backed Up" listing. Your selection of option of "remove from list" will enable or determine whether you remove all or singles. Notice the use of the word "remove from list" is used and the word "delete" is not used. You are removing the listing of tasks and this has no bearing on any removal of old backup files.

If you wish additional clearance for a fresh start, with program closed, you can additionally rename the "Archive.xml" file usually found in win7 at
c:\program data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database\archives.xml
Rename to "old-archives.xml"
This is the file which tracks backups, etc and will recreate itself.

If you plan not to use the "nonstop backup" or the "Sync Agent" options, you can also stop the service and disable the service from running.

There are additonal options to delete old backup files, if there is a need.
From inside any task on your main menu, Click the cog wheel on extreme right and choose the "Recovery files" option.
A new window (Acronis Backup Explorer) willl open listing any backup files associated with that task.
Clicking any backup files will reveal delete options for that file.
