For now i conclude, that the issue has something to do with the AcronisESXAppliance becomming instable after a while.

As a workaround I run a scheduled task on the vcenter server where I reset the AcronisESXAppliance right before the backup job starts. For now this pseudo solution seems to work.

ok, i changed the config and now backups run fluently for over 2 weeks now.

roadmap to success:

1. install acronisesxappliance on each esxi server
2. connect the appliance to esxi host 1 using login creds for esxi host 1 rather than vcenter or vcenter server appliance (do the same for each esxi host in your cluster)
3. apply licences to each esxi host seperately in your cluster

thx to acronis support for helping me out, after asking the right questions ;-)
