Make OS drive image back up to restore later

Thread needs solution

I have read a few posts about encountering GPT issues..Basically, I have a laptop HD that I partitioned and have just done a clean Win 8 install with Office and I want to image the C: (OS drive) so if I ever encounter some issues I can go back to the same way after my clean install. In addition, if my HD breaks will I be able to slap a new one in and use the image I make now??

Please help me pick the right option before I load the rest of my apps.

Hi John,
I do the exact same thing every time I buy a new desktop/laptop... but I actually make 3 copies.

1 system image before the computer is used for the first time
1 after activation
1 after activating Office or another client specific application

Maybe a little overkill, but it ensures I can easily reimage or go back to stock when it's time to hand off or sell.

Use Acronis Boot Media for each of these tasks. Back up to whatever destination your choose. NAS, External HDD, another PC, etc.
Put your media in the DVD/CDRW and boot. Start Acronis and perform a full disk image back up. Be sure to validate the images after they are created. Be certain to use a later version/build of ATIH that supports GPT and secure boot if enabled.
