VMProtect7 running at 100% and setting off alarms in VSphere

Thread needs solution

VMProtect can run up to 5 tasks at one time. I prefer to run only one at a time. But sometimes a job may take a lot longer and tasks can overlap.

This happened to me recently and although everything completed without issue the VMP appliance was running at 100% processor usage while both jobs were running. Is this normal?

The physical host for this appliance is a Poweredge 1950 with Dual Quad core processors with hyperthreading turned off. 32GB of Ram and the average load is 30% processor usage and 65% memory usage.

How many virtual CPU's have you assigned the appliance?

use 2 or more to spread the cpu load

the default CPU alarm in vcenter is just 100% CPU usage for 15 minutes or more which can be normal depending on the job

If the appliance was 100% usage and no jobs were running, thats another matter.

thing like de-dup and the back all require processing power.

For example in my environment I used to get this alarm every day because of a particular manufacturers inventory software I am using, it has 1 vCPU and at 6pm on the dot, bam email alert. For me this is NORMAL as the entire day it does nothing, and at 6pm performs database requiring heave CPU
