Scheduled Backup Fails - Access Denied

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I am new to Acronis TIH, so I will yield to the experts:

I have:
Windows XP Pro
Acronis TIH 2009
Backing up Files/Folders over a network daily (Scheduled)

My scheduled backup fails for reasons that I do not understand. Basically the log says access is denied / I/O Errors?

My log is posted for one of the failures. I would appreciate any info. or insight as to why. Thank yo in advance and Merry Christmas to all.

Tom

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

To resolve the issue please perform the below actions:

1) Try reducing the Network connection speed to 80% or less (Backup options -> Network connection speed).

2) Please use a full UNC path (e.g. \\server\share\) instead of a mapped drive.

You can also use a pre backup command to mount the mapped drive for an Acronis scheduled task:

  1. Download map.drive.txt;
  2. Follow instructions in Using Batch Files in Acronis True Image.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

I am running ATIH 2011 on Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit). Much of my data is in shares on my ReadyNAS Duo.

I can access the shares without problem from W7 and with the browser in ATIH.
I can backup my system (C:) to ASZ (on a local drive) and local drives to USB drives connected directly to my PC, not to the ReadyNAS.

When I try to backup (default settings) any of my NAS shares to these USB drives I get the notorious "Failed to backup file or folder 'foldername'. Access to the file is denied (0x40014)". The log then says that the operation has succeeded even though nothing has been backed up.

None of the solutions I have read about in the forums seems to help (or they don't seem applicable). I presume it has something to do with ownership/permissions, but I don't understand enough to make changes without detailed help.

I am not happy with my recent move to W7 and ATIH 2011. Too much culture shock all at once. I want to go back to XP, but my system wouldn't let me install SP3 for some reason.

Please can somebody help?

I've run into the same problem -- I can back up my hard drive to the NAS with no problem, but trying to back up some files on the NAS to the hard drive results in the "Failed to backup file or folder 'foldername'. Access to the file is denied (0x40014)" error.

There's no place in ATIH 2011 to change credentials for the NAS as far as I can see, but it works the other way (Computer -> NAS), but not NAS -> Computer.

Any idea on what else to try to fix this?

i had same problem and same error code. in my case, my problem was synology firmware. i upgraded to 1354 and problem solved.
