Universal Restore- Windows 7-OS serial

Thread needs solution

Does any one know...I assume if I use "Universal Restore" to set up a new computer to match the old, the registration keys of the "backed up" computer will now show up on the new computer

The OS is Windows 7 64 Prof. The new computer will only have a "restore to original" set of software (and OEM Win 7); not a Windows 7 installation disk I can use to "update" the new computer

I want to keep both "computers functional" so I don't want to run into an issue with Windows 7 or MS

Any ideas or am I doomed to have to reloading every piece of software I have

If you have an OEM version of Windows, your back it up and you restore it on another computer, Windows will try to reactivate and that will probably not work. If you have a retail version, it will work. If you have issues in the latter case, you can call Microsoft support to solve the activation issue.

Yes, likely to have activation issues with OEM. My recollection is that when phoning Microsoft the automated service allows you to reactivate OEM versions of Windows 7 Professional.
