ATI2014 - File Backup vs. Disk and Partition Backup?

Thread needs solution

I am trying ATI2014 and have a question. In my regular backups, I normally do a File Backup as I want to be able to restore files as required. I have never done an Image restore, but would not rule out in the future. If I do a Disk and Partition Backup, would I be able to go to the backup and restore an individual file and/or folder? And, if doing a file restore to a new location, would it leave the original file intact and not remove it from the disk? I did a Disk and Partition Backup, but had a problem trying to figure out how to restore a file and/or folder to a different location.

Thanks

If your disk fails, you most likely would want to create a replacement disk wiithout a reinstall of 'Windows.

Having a Disk & partition backup (preferably a "disk mode" backup) would provide with the type of backup needed to create such a disk.

Click link #2 below and the first few screens illustrate how to create a disk mode backup.
You would probably find the remainder of link2 also to be helpful.

To restore single file from a disk mode bacup or a partition backup, review link #3 below, item 5.

Extracat from link 1.

Look at link #3 below and then inside link 3, look at item #5.
This illustrates one method to restore a folder or file from a ful disk backup.

Thank you.

I am still confused - when in "Disk and Partition Backup" Mode, what is different in Disk Mode vs. Partition Mode. I did a backup in Partition Mode, but cannot figure out how to recover individual files/folders from it. I see the notes above, but they are confusing - any simple straight-forward answer for this?
Thanks

Important Pre -Introduction:
Sadly, all to often there are postings on the forum about backup issues where the cause was incomplete user backups which is why this topic and guide is so important. The mistake often made is that partitions without drive letters (visible only in the Disk Management console) are erroneously omitted from backup. Choosing the disk mode (illustrated in #3 below) will enable you checkmark the disk for a complete backup of everything on the disk--including non-lettered partitions and disk signature. Having a complete disk backup usually offers more restore options and usually with fewer restore issues.

This link is one of the easiest links in restoring single files or folders from either a partition backup or a disk backup.

Other choices to restore singles or folders is the "Mount" option to mount a backups which will temporarily create a duplicate partition and you can copy from the temporary partiton (containing the backup) to the live or target partition.
