SWITCHING Software

Thread needs solution

We are a training company considering using Acronis for Image creation. Without going in too many details, our need is to be able to create image ( Win 7, Win 2008, Linux ) and restore them from another OS.

So before doing huge test/fail, is it possible to install Acronis ( which version ? ) on each of these OS and then restore the image of another OS. Example : Running Acronis on WIN 7 to restore an image of Windows 2008 or Linux.

Thanks a lot.

Hello djans,

as far as I understand you want to use Acronis Backup and Recovery for your purpose.

Let me provide you with information about basic concepts of this software.

1) We have different versions for workstation and server operating systems. Here you can find a comparison table of available editions and supported operating systems are listed in this article.

2) Backups can be restored by Agent installed in any operating system.

3) If you want to recover operating system to dissimilar hardware, you will need Acronis Universal Restore.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
