I am having this this problem too! At first (i.e. 3 days ago) it worked fine but now I can't get True Image 2014 Premium to boot up in order to get to the home panel - and last night the overnight back-ups (differential) just didn't happen!! The only change to my settings that has happened (as far as I know) is that I implemented Secure Zone - which in itself was a puzzling experience because when I did a subsequent test backup I didn't get an option to archive to the Secure Zone?? I sincerely hope it isn't a rip-off and if it is I'd like my money back so I can find an alternative commercial quality back-up solution!!

Anyone out there? I have the same problem. Product will not respond when opened.

Same Problem, kind of. I have Win 7 64 ultimate and I've installed ATI 2014 Premium and uninstalled it several times. It runs, but I have to wait several minutes before the next window opens. I keep getting a (Not Responding) comment then after a couple of minutes it goes away and I get the screen I wanted, then it happens again. Basically it is useless for me right now. Help, Acronis! Please address this forum or give me my money back and I will try another solution.

Just thought it would be good to give an update. I had exceptional help from Acronis Chat once I was able to get on. The guy that helped was superb and with the help of taking over my computer, got it all running well. The problem (and don't know if it is related to Acronis) was that my 2 CD drives apparently were showing as un-available. Acronis checks all components are good, and if not (as in my case) was unable to resolve the dis-connect. The Acronis Agent, un-installed the drives and re-installed, but same problem, but then used the Windows driver check for the drives and they both had a CODE 19 error, which he fixed. Now all is good. Don't know if this helps you others, but it worked great for me. The Acronis agent was a blur on how quickly he fixed stuff and can't say enough about the help. Thanks Acronis!!

Thanks for the comment about the CD Drives. Only yesterday, I was attempting to load a CD to ITunes and had the same Code 19 error.
This was on an internal and external drive. Managed to fix the problem using Microsoft CD fix program.
As a result of your comments I have just tried Acronis again and this time it has loaded.
I am wondering which came first, the Acronis problem or the CD problem, as I haven't a clue what caused them.
Anyway thanks again

Glad it worked! I'm no techie, but sometimes I do understand what they say! Like you say, not sure which is the horse and which the cart!

Update on my problem of True Image 2014 Premium on Win 7 64 bit very slow to load if it loads at all. Neil Herdman's problem with the CD's was a big hint. It turns out that I had a failed hard disk that I didn't know about because I never tried to use it. Apparently every time True Image first loads it looks at all your attached devices, like the CD's and the hard disks, and if any have a problem that makes it unreadable, True Image won't run, unless you wait five or ten minutes and then things are still problematic. I disconnected the hard disk and now everything is just fine. It's a pity Acronis Chat didn't point me in that direction early on, we spent a couple of hours chasing our tails. I should have known better and checked all my attached devices before I installed the program, but I guess I'm just out of practice...JH

I was searching the Net to see if others had this same problem, and I found all of your posts on this.....but all the posts so far are from Dec 2013, so I am surprised that a FIX has not been made generally available for this by Acronis. I recently got a new Dell computer w Win 8.1. I have been using Acronis backup products for a number of years and they have been great, (until now). So a couple weeks ago I bought Acronis True Image 2014 , which is required for Win 8.1. I successfully installed it and did a couple of successful test backups and even a restore of files from my old computer (which has Acronis 2012) to the new one with 2014. But yesterday (2/15/14) I decided to do another backup, and upon launching Acronis 2014, after a few seconds Acronis 2014 said, at the top, "ACRONIS True Image 2014 NOT RESPONDING". I uninstalled it, and did a clean re-install. Still crashed. I got on a chat session where the Tech accessed my computer, ran a huge bunch of diagnostics, and we also re-installed the software again. But....after re-installing, it STILL crashed just after startup. Now I am waiting and hoping for a result/resolution from Acronis. Without a resolution for this, the software is obviously useless, as another post indicated. I am also concerned that all your posts were in December, and it is now February, and the problem still apparently exists. Per my own theory, I was blaming it on recent Win 8.1 UPDATES from MicroSoft, but I now doubt that since you all saw this in December. I am also unclear why Acronis should determine that attached storage devices would be unreadable, and give such a vague error message ("NOT RESPONDING"). Checking attached devices was never an issue in prior versions. If anyone has any recent feedback on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it (thanks). - MYF

It sounds like the issue here may be a drive device not responding issue. As stated earlier in this post TI 2014 scans all installed drives including cd/dvd drives. If a cd/dvd drive does not respond then this in turn hangs TI as TI cannot resolve the problem. These error/issues are driver/software related. Look in Device Manager under cd/dvd drives. If you see a yellow triangle containing an explanation mark this means your cd/dvd is not working. If this is the case, right click on the drive and choose Properties. If you see Device not working Code 19 then this indicates that there is likely an issue with the installed driver for the device. Choose OK to close the properties window. Now right click again on the cd/dvd drive and choose Uninstall Driver. Windows might respond with a meesage asking if you are sure you wish to uninstall, if so choose Yes. Windows will then uninstall the driver. To reinstall the driver still with Device Manager open, click on Computer, then right click on Computer, and choose Scan for New Hardware. This will reinstall the driver and you should have resolved your problem. I would suggest if this is the problem you are experiencing to check your cd/dvd drive manufacturer web site and search for a Win 8 driver update for the device. I would also check your PC manufacturer site and look for any driver updates for your machine for Win 8 and install those as well.

To confirm I had exactly the same problem with TI 2014 hanging (not responding) immediately after startup on the home screen. This occurred on the latest version as of writing (build 6673).
When I checked the DVD drive in Device Manager it did indeed have the yellow triangle.
I resolved the DVD problem by following the following article ... the last option was the only one that worked ....
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-gb
Acronis need to fix TI 2014 so that it doesn't hang but if necessary produces some sort of warning that there may be a problem with the DVD drive.

Usually a driver refresh works but as you found out not always, thanks for supplying the link for others.

Sorry guys, I should have said I solved my problem after reading some of the comments here; specifically the ones referring to the fact that Acronis checks devices - in my case I had an external Lexar USB3 flash card reader attached and once I removed it the problem went away. Now I only plug-in the device when I need to use it. Sorry again for late response!!

I have a similar situation. Have been using Acronis for several years.
Upgraded to 2014 from 2012. Now 2012 will not work and 2014 although the installation went smoothly the program will not start.
Any help or suggestions on how I can get a response from Acronis appreciated.
Thanks,
Arold Green

I already replied to your earlier identical post. Please do not make multiple posts on the same issue, and read your replies.

I read the reply and it said to put it in a different thread.
Sorry if I made a mistake.

I loaded ati 2014 user interface 15 minutes ago and it still hasn't come up. None of my other apps take this long to load. I paid $50 for nothing I guess. Maybe I need to move to a better backup solution and pay more. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. Oh how I wish Norton Ghost was still available.
I have 16 hard drives installed on my system. It seems rather stupid to me that ATI does a integrity check on all drives before it will load the user interface. Especially since, at least in my case, I have no plan to back up my 45TB any time soon. All I want to back up is drive C:. I can see ATI testing C: and what ever HDD I am using to store the back ups on. But all the drives? Seems like overkill.

Arnie,
If you open up Windows Task Manager, are there multiple entries of TI loaded? Don't count Tibmounter, sync or Scheduler helper or monitor, there should only be omne of each of these anyway. The GUI however can become confused and have multiple entries which will stop it starting up. Delete all but one of these and the GUI should start.
Sixteen hard drives is a little unusual unless in some form of redundant setup, this may well slow TI down.
TI has to search for all drives on startup as it has no way of knowing which drive you might want to use. It has to be able to lock the chosen drive, which is why it doesn't do it on the fly.

I just wanted everyone to know about my recent experience with TIH2014. It might help someone out.
I have been using TIH2014 to perform multiple daily backups for several months now without a problem. Suddenly this morning, I was unable to open the UI to check the status of my backups. The TIH2014 UI would start and display the client window, then the little "arrow-thing" would just keep spinning and spinning until I closed the window. I tried this several times with the same result.
I through that was odd. However, I remembered that yesterday, I received notification by email that my cloud storage was going to be deleted yesterday if I didn't sign up. I have never used the cloud storage. I thought maybe there is some dependency the TIH2014 UI has on the cloud storage that I never used and that was just deleted.
So I did a test. I started the TIH2014 UI up and the little "arrow-thing" kept spinning and spinning. Then I went to my network connection and disabled it. As soon as I disabled it, the UI finished coming up and displayed my backups.
I did a second test. In this test, I disabled my network interface, then started the TIH2014 interface. It immediately came up and displayed my backups as it used to do before my cloud storage was deleted.
So, my tests seemed to indicate that, since my cloud storage account was deleted, when I invoked the TIH2014 interface, it hung if there is an available network interface. (By the way, all these tests were done with all the services running.)
But wait... there's more!
This afternoon, when I came home from work, I decided to try the tests with the Sync service stopped and disabled. So I disabled and stopped the Sync service, then tried to invoke the TIH2014 UI. The UI came up immediately without having to disable the network interface on my system.
I figured that it was probably the Sync service that was causing the UI to hang if there was an available network interface, so I ensured my network interface was enabled and operational, then turned the service back on to Automatic (delay) and started it. I then invoked the TIH2014 UI thinking that it would hang. Well, it didn't hang and immediately displayed my backups.
It seems now, that since I ran the tests and got the TIH2014 UI to finish initializing by disabling the network interface this morning, the UI seems to be working as it always had previous to having my cloud storage, that I never used, deleted.
Puzzling, but now all works as it had previous to my cloud storage being deleted yesterday.
So, my suggestion is that if you are having issues with the TIH2014 UI hanging while it's trying to come up, try disabling your network interfaces to see if that helps the UI (or the services behind the UI) come up. Doing that seems to have "reset" things on my system to make all work as it did previous to having my cloud account deleted.
Hope this helps someone out,
Paul

Further update on my previous post "http://forum.acronis.com/forum/49016#comment-175032"
It seems that the issue is not permanently solved.
ATIH2014 UI started to consistently "hang" when invoked. Once again, in order to get the UI to finish coming up, I have to disconnect the network connection. Consistently, as soon as I disconnect the network connection, the UI finishes coming up.
Anyone else seeing this?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
Am attaching a link that I believe if you follow what it says will solve your problem. Please post back your results.

Enchantech:
Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I don't have a "Synchonization" link on my account page. I do have a "Cloud Backcup" link where I can purchase cloud storage, but I've not taken advantage of any of that functionality.
This morning, I stopped and disabled the Acronis Sync Agent Service and things seem to be working as expected. That is, the ATIH2014 UI finishes coming up as expected.
We'll see if that provides a workaround going forward.
My intuition tells me that the Acronis Sync Agent can't contact my (now deactivated) sync account and that is causing the issue.
Thanks once again,
Paul
- Log in to post comments

You are correct, it is the sync agent where the problem lies. By default upon installation of 2014 your machine is linked via the sync to the cloud storage. User does nothing to initiate this. You are saying that following the link instructions your machine is not listed as a linked device?
- Log in to post comments

That is correct.
I followed the link instructions you provided and I don't even have a "Syncrhonization" link on my account page. It has "Cloud Storage" header and underneath the "Cloud Storage" header it has two links entitled "For Home" and "For Business". Clicking the "Home" link displays information that allows me to sign up for my 1 month free subscription or purchase cloud storage for home use.
These symptoms started just after I received an email saying that my free cloud storage of 5GB was going to be deleted if I didn't sign up. (It said something like "today's your last chance...".) Anyway, I didn't sign up and the following day, the ATIH2014 UI started to exhibit these symptoms.
Thanks,
Paul

Ok, for now keep the sync service disabled as a workaround.

Crazy JUST CRAZY that Acronis should do this. All I want to do is image my boot drive and it should NOT hang because it is not able to contact something I have no intention of using. At the very least it should set a timeout and let me choose. Who programmed this garbage anyway and who tested it.
Yes, I have the same problem and spent hours with support and they had no idea about this.
It has been elevated but seems they are asleep at the wheel while I an stick with two useless licenses.
Oh, I can do backup and restore from emergency boot disk!

Regarding the post(s) above pertaining to the "Not Responding" issue and the bad CD ROM driver. I had the same problem with True Image 2013. I spent several days trying to figure out how to get TI to work again before I found this post yesterday. I found that I also had this driver problem. Once the CD ROM driver was fixed TI started and worked perfectly once again.

Thanks you all for help re looking at drive information via device manager. We fixed that and had no more problem !! :)

Hi all,
I was having the same issue - True Image as "not responding" after plugging the SSD into the USB port of the laptop. I solved that by doing 3 steps:
1. Disconnecting the USB cable of the SSD kit.
2. Opening True Image.
3. Plugging the kit it into another USB port on the laptop.
Hope that helps, if anyone has the same problem.
Regards
