Anyone tried 6053 with Win 7?

Thread needs solution

I also use TI 2010 and updated to 6029 in November. Found out the backup would not restore and went back to earlier version. Lucky for me I had a backup from earlier version.
Has anyone tried 6053?
It seems Acronis continues to remain silent about the issues and they are not very helpful. I wrote up the problems with 6029 on November 21 and got a response on Dec 16th. All it said was "I understand your problem. The software is very reliable. Please let us know if you have further questions."

What kind of answer is that?

6053 is working ok on my system for backups except for when viewing the archive (browsing) where it keeps asking for last volume. It backs up and recovers ok. Just browsing is the problem.

6053 works fine on my system (Win7 x64). However, many people are having issues and you should check out the 6029 thread for possible solutions.

Running Win7 Ultimate 32-bit and build 6053 completely freezes my system. I have to do a hard reset. Build 5055 seems to be working fine, but I can't install the "TI 2010 Plus Pack" I just paid for. Frustrating... I really wanted to test installing to an entirely new hardware system.

Win 7 64bit Pro, new machine with clean Win 7 installed running RAID 10 (no dynamic disks because they aren't supported). Installed 6053. Trying to create an image would completely lock up the machine resulting in a powerdown and a 3 hour RAID integrity check and rebuild.
Searched the forum and found an article on installing SNAPAPI. I have now been able to take an image but the machine still crashes every 1 in 3 times at different stages of taking an image, beginning, middle and end during the validation check.
Having successfully used 2009 on an XP Pro RAID machine to say I am disappointed is an understatement. Other comments from people suggest to me a lack of testing which on a product designed for DR/backup is unacceptable.
I am no longer recommending this product to anyone.

6029 and 6053 have been nothing but trouble for my Win 7 64bit system. 6053 does nothing but lock my machine up leaving me with the only option of reverting back to the original version I bought back in October. I went with Acronis because of recommendations from other forums I visit but I can't share their enthusiasm after the latest builds. I understand that no software is perfect and bug free but I hold backup software to a much higher standard. We're talking people's data here and if Acronis keeps dropping the ball then I'll just switch to a competitor.

6053 has worked well for me so far (Win7U, x64). I haven't had any problems creating or reading archives.

It's not without problems, though. The TIH UI will not exit clean. The UI disappears, but the TrueImage.exe process doesn't exit. I have to remember to manually kill the process, because trying to start a new instance of the UI will block until the previous one is gone.

I am using nothing but "Simple, Basic" disks (all SATA).

6053 is not working on my Win7 Ultimate 32 bit. It is skipping several directories but backing up others at the root of a partition and have no idea why it is happening. No errors in the backup logs and verification shows no errors.

6053 freezes my Win 7 Home Premium when I want to clone a disk. Will uninstall and try a previous version.

(Follow-up: 5026 works fine for me)

Garry,

It's a long shot, but have you checked to see if for some reason TI has installed itself in XP compatability mode?

You will need to check the Trueimage.exe and the scheduler2.

In W7 you'll find TI where you expect, in the X86 folder, but the scheduler will lurk in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2

Thanks, Colin, that's something I hadn't thought of checking, but neither program is tagged as being in compatibility mode. From what I've gleaned from the forum so far, this appears to be a Win7 64-bit thing.

I would agree that it is a W7 64bit thing, but I'm unsure if it is an Acronis specific problem, as I don't get it with either TI2010 b5055 or Echo 9.1 Workstation, but I do get it with Firefox v3.x.x, it will suddenly crash and leave instances of itself running.

I'm using Eset Smart Security v4.2.222 beta, and previously v3. whatever the last build was, and wondered if this was causing the problem, but I don't think so.

What I do get with Acronis though is reports of it causing a registry leak.
