Installation Failed for latest Acronis 10 on 2003 SP2 Domain Controller

Thread needs solution

..just like 9.1
Downloaded my 15-day trial of the latest and greatest and Acronis install fails.
Again.

What is going on here? Same error from both installation attempts:

From end of install log:

It appears I can not get support for this either and I'm forced to visit the forums, so here I am.
I am a loyal Acronis customer from the early days and steered no less than 100 people to purchase Acronis products. I started at version 7 when this company was an upstart (contact me for registration/support info, Acronis) and here I am now..begging for a reason why this is happening throughout and old and a new version.

If I am going to buy this product for my enterprise, it must be as solid as any software I could possibly add to an enterprise domain controller. Installing *anything* is a no-no on a domain controller aside from a backup remote agent and, hopefully, Acronis. Backup exec works...Acronis does not.

I'm in awe that it failed, frankly. This is completely unacceptable.
I tried the COM+ service checks and VSS checks applicable to the 9.1 enterprise version - nothing works.

"Please help" is an understatement.

By the way - here's the error message in the GUI portion of setup:

Code: 06442537
Line tag: 0x9f2b3becl6879b1a5l
Message: Installation error.

Suberror
Code: 01603
Line tag: 0xbd28fdbdl64edb8bcl
Message: Fatal error during installation

There must be more information in the MSI-Log....

You postet the result, but there must be one line with the real error which caused this result. In most logs is a free line after the error line and you can use "error" as keyword for a search... (or attach the complete LOG File...compressed of course)..

Volker

Jay,

Did you find a solution?

Ditto to your sentiments. We are having the same errors on attemted installs to 24 W2K3 SP2 machines. I have had a very hard time trying to explain /get an explanation from the "help" desk lines.

Dale

Yep - CPU speed was below the min system requirements for Acronis' software.

Acronis should support the level of hardware that the OS supports - we run Win2003 on these old systems just fine..MS says installation on a 533MHZ CPU is fine - I had a 733MHZ.. Acronis requires 1GHZ+ on a Win2003 server.

Why?

The speed of the CPU has nothing to do with the ability for Acronis to function, it would just do so more slowly. All I wanted to do was install the remote agent portion too.

Oh well - I was forced to use a solution from Symantec instead.

Hello all!

First of all I would like to thank you for finding time to open the thread and report about the issue you have faced.

Before we get started with discussing the problem I would like to notify you that should you use the trial version or have the support agreement, you are eligible for immediate ongoing assistance via chat and e-mail, feel free to check your options here in support options matrix! You can also find the detailed instructions on how to contact support directly here

Back to the case itself:

I regret to know you faced this issue and would like to help you resolve it. Actually CPU speed is not a major requirement for the installation of our product, and there can be dozens of reasons for the error you received, so we anyway need to take a closer look at the problem.

We would appreciate if you could first of all check the following:

  1. Services to be started (Right click on My computer -> Manage -> Services and Applications - > Services and please check COM+Application, Distribution Transaction Coordinator and VSS - Volume Shadow Copy)
  2. The temp folder to be empty
  3. Any third party protections software (antiviruses, third party backup software, firewall, etc) to be disabled
  4. Reattempt the installation

Should the issue persist, please kindly provide us with the following information on encountering this problem:

  1. MSI log (here for Acronis True Image Home 2010)
  2. Windows System Information file

I will allow us to identify the exact reason of the issue and provide you with the solution for your particular case.

I would appreciate if you could kindly keep us regarding the case, and let us know should something seem confusing or you faced difficulties with obtaining the diagnostic information - we will definitely help you!

Thank you in advance for cooperation!
