ABR Adv. Workstation 11.5 cannot see .tib files

Thread needs solution

I try to recover "MyBackup.tib" to a VMWare workstation VM. When I browse to the location, it cannot see the tib file.

This is pretty silly. If the folder contains just the .tib, ABR doesn't see it. So, we can't recover it. We accidentally found a workaround. Select ACTION > VALIDATE. Under "Validate:", select "backup". Browse to the folder containing the .tib file. You will see the message "There are no items to show in this view". Click on the "Refresh" button". In a few seconds, the archive will show up. The "refresh" action creates an XML metadata file that ABR 11.5 needs, I imagine. After that, you will be able to see the archive when performing ACTION > RECOVER.

This is pretty basic. ABR should do this automatically. Is this too much to ask for?

If you deleted .xml file (or .meta folder ) that was generated automatically, or if you recover from a backup made by older versions of True Image Enterprise, yes you have to manually refresh to recreate the meta (you can do it in 'what to recover' selection dialog). In other cases it's not necessary. Compatibility with archives created with True Image Home is not guaranteed at all
