Formatting and restoring files

Thread needs solution

Hello
Because I have some corrupt files on my Windows XP Pro hardrive, which I cannot remove by any means, I want to reformat my hardrive and then do a file restore (not image restore), using TI Home 2010 beta, excluding the corrupt files. However, the hardrive will not boot as some files would be missing like the MBR etc. Any suggestions please?
Thanks
John

How do you know which files are corrupt so that you can omit them? I think you're looking at having to do a re-instal of the OS and Apps. Your data you can copy to another hard drive then copy back to the freshly installed drive.

Thanks for your reply. The corrupt files I cannot delete, cut, move, rename, copy etc. etc. I cannot do this from DOS, SafeMode, BartPE or any software that says it can delete corrupt files.
If I format the hardrive and do a file restore as against an image restore the drive will not boot because the MBR etc has not been restored. My question is how do I get the drive to boot once I have restored all the files I want? I want to avoid having to reinstall Windows.
Thanks
John
