Restoring file images of partitions to new hardware using TI2014

Thread needs solution

Can the images of files be restored to new hardware using TI2014, or can this only be carried out using TI2014 premium?

If TI2014 Premium is required, do the Premium backups completely restart the valid backup archives?

Is TI2014 Premium, the better purchase?

Come to think of it, what is the definition of "new hardware?" Is a replacement hard drive new hardware?

....N

Universal restore is only available with TI 2014 premium. A new hard drive is not considered new hardware. A new mother board is.

I thought of upgrading a friend's PC to TI2014 Premium, however, her PC is a single partition drive, obviously C:

If the PC had to be replaced, you wouldn't want to restore the operating system or, probably, any application programs. Could you restore to a new PC just the data files from the old, single, partition?

Windows easy transfer may be well, easier!

Many thanks Bob. I had not heard of Easy Transfer, I think it is the answer to both my and my friend's problem.

However and pardon my ignorance, what then is the difference between the TI2014 "Recovery" and using Windows' Easy Transfer? Is it an alternative, like my use of the excellent Windows' Task Scheduler instead of the TI2014 scheduling facility, or perhaps Easy Transfer can only be applied to non-program files, whilst "Recovery" can transfer working programs.

Further comments will be gratefully received, as I get my head round Acronis!

Regards.....Noel

Windows easy transfer allows for user data files to be migrated from one pc to another. Recovery is used to recover a system that say has crashed and will not boot into the OS because of corrupted system files.

Here's a link to Easy Transfer, hope it is what you are looking for and will help.

Many thanks Bob for the link. However, following your earlier message, I found Easy Transfer in Win7's System Tools!

Thank you, too, for indicating the prime value of Recovery. I think I'm getting the program's functions clearer in my mind!

I am very pleased with the way TI2014 is backing-up my system partition and the various data/picture file partitions. I use Windows Task Scheduler (very good!) and close the back-up process using the batch file recommended by GroverH.

The help I have received from the Forum has been invaluable, quite superb. If the setting up of the program had relied on the Acronis programming quality, or their Support, I would have thrown it in the bin long ago!

Regards and thanks again.....Noel
