Thread needs solution

I am unable to do a backup to an external USB drive all of a sudden - been doing this backup at least once a month since September of last year with no issues. Now I am getting this message:

User name or password for the remote resource is incorrect. Please check user name and password andn tupe it again."module="1" time='1250517631'

I've NEVER had a password on my external backup, so why would I be getting this message, and how do I fix?

running: True Image Home 2009 - build 9,788 on Windows XP

Have you downloaded any Microsoft updates recently?

Is 9788 the latest build for your language version?

Build 9,788 was a bad build and pulled quickly by Acronis. There should be a later build available.

I would wonder about a Service Pack update for XP.

Hello J-Anthony Mungilla,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis True Image Home 2009

In order to solve the issue please update Acronis scheduler. Use the following KB article for step-by-step instructions.

I am getting a similar error, and it is (apparently) not resolved by the scheduler update. The log entry in full reads:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Can anyone help?

Hello Pamela,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please clarify some information regarding your backup and program you're using?

-Please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)

-What is the destination of your backup (internal, network HDD)?

-As far as I understand, you're performing full backup of entire hard drive\partitions, is that correct?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply (and apologies for the tardy response).

The program's main window simply shows "Welcome to Acronis True Image Home 2009" and various very pretty widgets, but there is no "traditional" menu bar, and no apparent means of finding out the version, build number or anything else of that nature (see attached PDF file). Believe me, if I had been able to access the information, I would have sent it! (And there doesn't seem to be a registry entry that might control the (non)appearance of the menu bar, either. You obviously hid it well!)

The backup destination is a second internal (SATA) drive, which contains the Secure Area.

As you correctly infer, the backup is of the entire physical disk 1, two partitions.

I apologise if I have missed something in the program's interface

If I may say so, your forum site is glacially slow. Is it just the time of day? (11:00 UTC)

I have this problem too.

2 weeks ago I made a backup of system drive and second backup of another files from another logical hard-drive.

they were done correctly.

but today i tried to make an increment and received the error message fully like Pamela.

I made a test-backup of one little folder, and received error message too.

I don't have any external drives. I am making all backups on internal sata-drive with acronis secured zone.

I haven't downloaded any Microsoft updates at this time and I haven't changed my system login and password.

Acronis true Image Home 2009
Program version is 9769 (the latest)
Language: Russian.
OS:Windows XP

Thank you.

I am sorry. I found a solution.

I don't know why (may be because of installing at second drive windows 7) my "repair on startup" (восстановление при загрузке) wasn't enabled. But it was 2 weeks ago!

Because of this my security zone of acronis couldn't make any backup.

I think that error messages must be more informative than now.

Dear Ivan

I seem to have the same problem with the error message event code="1015".
Can you please detail your sentence: "my repair on startup wasn't enabled." . How do you *enable this* ?
I had a crash on windows 7 while Acronis was making a full backup. now this error shows up.
On restart after BOD the boot menu came up, but I said to "start windows normally" - which it did.
Now I'm wondering how you managed to enable the repair on startup.

cheers
daniel

ps to acronis:
I'm using TI built 9809 / win7-32bit. all up-to-date
crash was caused by the windows mwdia player while opening some video.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for the clarifications.

Pamela, the Help section will become visible if you hold ALT key when the product is started. I know that this is not intuitive, we have already changed this behaviour in Acronis True Image Home 2010. Anyway, it looks like the issue is not related to some network drive accessibility. Could you please clarify, does it occur when you're performing the same backup with Start Now option (just manually, without a schedule)? Have you specified the credentials for Windows account during backup creation?

Иван, I'm glad that you were able to resolve the issue by yourself. But the solution you have used is not clear for me, could you please clarify, what do you mean under "repair on startup" you enabled? Could you please provide me with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the solution you report?

Daniele, does this error occur when you're trying to use the product? It's not clear from your message. Also, what exactly happened with your system after crash (on the first boot after it)?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Dear Alexander

Thank you for following up.
The error occurs each time I start a manual full backup of the partition C to the ASZ (my standard routine) - and the operation is thus abotred.
The error first showed up after a crash I had while an Acronis backup-job was in progress.
(Before that the backup worked fine, and the crash itself had, as far as I can judge, nothing to do with acronis).

On reboot after the crash the windows boot menu showed up, where I selected "Start windows normally" - which it did.

The backup works fine if I do it from the acronis boot, but is not really confortable.

Kind regards
daniele

Hello Daniele,

This issue may occur when Acronis Secure Zone has been created from previous build of the product, so newest version cannot access it.

Is it possible for you to recreate it from scratch with the latest (9809) build? As far as I understand you have already updated to this version.

If you worry about your backups stored there, you may copy them from Secure Zone. If you have Acronis Disk Director 10.0 you can proceed in the following way:

- run Acronis Disk Director 10.0
- right click on the Acronis Secure Zone
- select Advanced->Change type
- select type 0Bh (FAT32)
- reboot the computer

Acronis Secure Zone will be mounted as a partition with its own drive letter and you will be able to see and manage the backup archives there using standard Windows Explorer. Copy all necessary files from it.

In order to return back the Acronis Secure Zone as it was, you should change again its type to the 0BCh (Acronis Secure Zone type).

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Regards,
