TI2013 + Win8.1 : unable to mount .tib images

Thread needs solution

As subject really - I need to extract some files from a full system image .tib archive on an external USB2 drive, but using Acronis 2013 ( build 6514 ) on my recently updated Win8.1 system I just get an error:

---
Cannot initialize Backup Archive Explorer. Please reinstall True Image. (0x6400F8)
Tag = 0x77A5DDBA3199E2CB
Unknown status. (0x9)
code = 2)
Tag = 0x77A5DDBA3199E2CC
The system cannot find the file specified (0xFFF0)
code = 80070002)

I've read that there are memory leaks ( some people seem to have been able to mount images ) but pending a fix, is there

Is there a fix available for this ?

I am also unable to mount image using True Image 2014. Back up may have been created with 2013. The mount does not recognize the *.tib file.

Only partition or disk image files can be mounted. If this is a files and folder backup, it is not mountable.
