Vista to Windows 8.1

Thread needs solution

I have a new PC that runs on windows 8.1; my old pc ran on vista and I have backed up the C drive on an external hard drive using true image 2012 with plus pack. If I buy true image 2104 on my new pc can I copy over the backed up hard drive information onto my new PC? Help needed!!

If you are simply after files such as user data you could use Windows Easy Transfer very simple and easy.

I am not keen to do that as I have a virus on my old PC that I (and many others) have been unable to eradicate. I know that the files on the external hard drive are clean.

If you have a virus on your old machine if you transfer any data from that machine into the new one you risk reinfection no matter how it is done. You would need to run a top notch virus scanner and trust what it is telling you before any of this data could be placed on the new machine. If it were me I would just walk away from it as it sounds like you have real NASTY on your hands!

Can I transfer my back up that was made on Vista to a new computer that runs on Windows 8 with acronis true image 2014 installed?
