If he were using an OEM version of Windows 7, and moving from an old HP to a new HP, would your statement still apply?
"However, you will not successfully migrate OEM Windows versions. These versions are bundled with specific hardware. The technical part from Acronis runs through without problems. The Windows system starts and shows a message, that it is not longer used in a valid environment. "
Also, what difference would Universal Deploy make in this situation?

Hello Tim,
yes, the statement is generally valid for all OEM operating systems.
It doesn't matter, which tool you are using to transfer your system to a new hardware, Universal Restore or Universal Deploy. Both of them can transfer system and change needed drivers in HAL.dll.
But everything else depends on your license. Deployment of an image of OEM version of Windows to dissimilar hardware may be restricted by the OEM Windows license (Windows activation will fail etc.). Contact the OEM vendor to get information, whether the OEM license can be used on dissimilar hardware.
Thank you.
