Does restore (discs & partitions) replace existing newer files ?
Laptop XP laptop wont reboot (blue screen, white text... 'virus, etc maybe prohibiting boot... ), but have ATIH-10 boot disk and recovery file on ext hd.
Will 'restore' > 'discs and partitions' replace existing new files created after the latest *.tib backup ?
Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the feedback !
Im not sure what else to do in this situation.
If I use the XP install disk, I get the same error message, which appears like 1sec and then disappears, and the PC starts to reboot again.
ATI cd is the only thing that will load.
Was hoping ATI might help 'restore' the reboot process... long shot I know, but maybe will try to restore just one file and see what happens.
Please let me know if any other ideas.
Thanks again.

Have you tried a Windows repair disk?
Take a photo of the error message so that you can quote it exactly here.

Thanks for the followup !
Turns out the main problem was the boot setup for the SATA (setting needed to be ATA instead of ACI).
Apparently while I was trying to use several external HDs with a USB hub, the setting got changed by the HD software or something like that... guess it can happen according to the Dell support person.
Big waste of time, except I did learn something, now I am doing some more backup organizing for when the problem may be more serious !
