Question of Recovery for MSSQL

Thread needs solution

I installed B&R and Recovery for MSSQL in the same machine with windows server 2000.
when I tried to backup the sql database and choice the backup location to the network sharing folder with password, it told me "select a correct backup location." and couldn't do next step.

then I uninstalled B&R and tried it again, and it worked.

how should I do to fix this problem if B&R and ARMSSQL were installed in the same machine with windows server 2000?

Hello Dexter,

Let me assist you with this situation.

First of all, I'd like to mention that Windows Server 2000 is supported by Acronis Recovery for MS SQL, so this is not a cause.

This issue can be caused by network permissions or drive name resolving process.

Could you please check whether your account (you're using to operate with the product) has Full Access permissions to the share? You can check it under Windows Explorer -> Browse to the share in right click on it -> Properties -> Security tab.

Please try to use a full UNC path (e.g. \\server\share\) instead of a mapped drive when the backup destination screen appears (in the string named Folder please specify path as suggested)

What happens if you saving the same backup to the internal drive?

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.

Yesterday I have downloaded trial version of "Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server Management Console" (build 1.0 rev 212).

I've managed to install it in my Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit). SQL Server 2005 Dev Ed is installed on the same pc.

First issue is that "localhost" is not displayed in the list of "servers with Acronis Agent installed" (neither it's hostname). So I had to add localhost manually.

Second issue is in the topic title: I choose DB to backup and LOCAL folder where to place it (W:\TryBack.tib), but Acronis claims "Select a correct backup location". I have admin rights on the box and I have full permissions on disk W:.

How should I overcome the issue?

It's a local drive, so what do you mean after "drive name resolving process"? Should I use some special way to format backup's full path?

It would be great! It's very strange feeling to get such errors from trial sw. ;-)

Best regards!

Hello Oleg,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience, it is difficult to say what causes these problems. I would recommend to contact our Support team directly with this report so that we can investigate and fix the issues. We offer technical support for trial versions.

If you need additional help please let me know.

Thank you.

Your official procedure is a little bit too complicated way to describe an issue for 15 days trial, isn't it? Should I post bugs for ALL backup solutions I currently investigate?

I expect to see details of the problem right on the message box after the text "Select a correct backup location". ProblemID at least.

I note another strange behavior and maybe it's the root of the problem. When I connect to server, there are login/password edit boxes. Then there is "Save password" check box. Though I have checked it, when connecting next time there is NO saved log/passw.

It looks like Man. Console (Acronis Agent?) forgets credentials right after successful login and in this way it could not write to local disk.

Best regards,
Oleg.

I'm having this same issue, only with Server 2003. I had Acronis SQL Recovery installed and everything was working fine. I then installed B&R 11 and now I'm having the same issues - If I try to back up or restore to or from a network location, it keeps giving an error about "Select a correct backup location". If I uninstall B&R 11 - it works. Reinstall it and it doesn't work. I'm surprised two products by the same company are having this kind of incompatibility?

Also - the latest version of Acronis SQL is build 212 from Oct 2010. I'm surprised a newer version hasn't been released since then?

I have the same problems as everyone else. I am backing up to a NAS. I purchased a license for Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server. It runs for about a month, and then it suddenly hangs when processing SQL jobs. This is because the app apparently "forgets" the credentials for the NAS. Now I am unable to get the app to take the credentials, even though the NAS is up and running and I can connect to it.

I COULDN'T BE UNHAPPIER with Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server. SUCH a disappointing program. STUNNING that this was put out by Acronis, and still this known issue is not resolved.
