Replacing disk drive in an old computer--windows XP won't recognize it

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to replace a disk drive in an old Dell computer with a new drive. This drive was used to back up a system in a different Dell machine using Acronis home 11. Now when I try to re-install my Windows XP system, windows won't recognize the drive. The computer BIOS does recognize it.
When I boot with my Acronis home 11 bootable disk, that does recognize the drive. I have tried to wipe the drive clean using Acronis Drive Cleanser, but that doesn't seem to work.
If I put the drive in another computer running windows 7, (as a 2nd drive), that windows computer won't recognize it either, again the BIOS in that computer does recognize it.

Anyone out there with any ideas?

What does that mean? You had written/saved .tib backups to that drive? You cloned a drive to that drive? Did you have Acronis Secure Zone on that drive?
