booting recovery capability from USB stick

Thread needs solution

I have windows 8.1 and have installed ATI 2013. I can boot to a disk with my ATI2013 but cannot boot to a usb stick despite having made one with my ATI2013. Is there anything planned that would allow me to do so. I have not used the recovery capability yet but it seems it would be able to do so. Your knowledge of such things would be appreciated.

As you have 8.1 installed and have 2013, you qualify for the free upgrade to 2014. See this link.

I found out it cost $19.99 for the update and I sent my master card number etc to acronis and got the following number: Your products
1 Acronis True Image 2014 Premium Upgrade (English)Acronis True Image 2014 Premium Upgrade installation requires a serial number of earlier version of True Image. Note that trial versions are not eligible for upgrade. Comes with 5GB of free Cloud Storage for one year.
Please use the following serial number(s) to activate your product:

but I never got any download notice or place to go to get one. This is weird....I need to be able to download the product. Can you help or can you refer this to someone at Acronis. I will be very grateful. Charles Brawner

Charles,
1. Quickly, edit your posting above and copy the your serial number into your clipboard and then delete the serial so it is not visible to the world.

2. Check my signature link 9. As 9 shows, go to your personal webpage and register your serial. (paste from your cliphoard).

3. Once you haver registered your serial, the download file for 2014 will be available within your own account and you can then start your download.

4. Next, if it were me, I would run the TI Cleanup (signature link 4) and remove 2013 and then do a fresh install of 2014.

5. Before performing the cleanup, if your backups are not current, I would perform backups using 2013 so your system is completely backed up (just to be safe) before switching to 2014.

I have edited my post to eliminaate the number.

I have registered my number with Acronis but it still doesn't show in my registered numbers. I don't know why. Seems simple enough and I have done what I thought I was expected to do.

Now the registered number shows in my account. I believe that should do it. Shame the new ati doesn't seem to allow me to prepare a recovery usb stick, but I will survive.

Just a question....how can I make sure the image I just made after installation will work. I guess everyone just holds their breath and gives it a try. Acronis has always worked in the past.

An actual restore is the only way to know for sure. At the very least, boot from the CD and restore a couple files to a test folder.

Do some searchiing on the forum. There are multiple ways of using a usb thumb drive to act to replace the CD.
