XP doesn't boot after cloning failure

Thread needs solution

I have 2012 Acronis and after cloning failure, my XP computer does not boot. It just stops at "Starting Acronis loader...(some jibberish characters)" screen.
If I press the enter key, the computer proceeds to boot normally. How do I fix this??

Greetings,
Based on the limited information we have, it sounds like you may have been using the Acronis Start Up / Recovery Manager? If this is correct, you can use the Acronis Program to disable the option, restart the PC and re-enable it if you wish. If this does not resolve the problem, we will need more information about your specific error to help diagnose the issue.

I have Acronis True Image 2012. This happened after a failed disk cloning operation in Windows XP. The cloning process just stopped at the "Starting Acronis Loader...(some garbled characters)" screen. So I just hit the enter key to get out of there. I think I need to understand what exactly ATI did to my computer before trying to fix this problem. It appears ATI wrote some kind of batch file to the boot sector of source disk that is supposed to be removed later in a normal cloning operation in XP...so would running the cloning operation to the completion in Windows XP fix this problem? I cloned the disk successfully anyway using the ATI on the bootable CD. Thanks for your help!

Hi DLee,
Was the source disk configured to use the Start Up Recovery Manager or ASZ?

And, it is the source disk that now has the boot issues... the target drive is not connected. Is this correct?

Just to be absolutely certain, do make sure that the Acronis Boot CD has been removed from the tray and in addition, open the Bios and make sure the correct disk is the selected boot selection. Even if only one disk is attached, sometime it needs to have a specific disk selected as the designated boot device.
