ATI 2014 won't clone my Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to clone my C: drive to an identical hard drive. I go through all of the initial setup, and it tells me it needs to reboot. After reboot, it sits there doing nothing for a while displaying a message that it's starting to clone, and then restarts the computer again. I end up with nothing useful on the new drive.

What does it take to get this software to work? This is the third version I've tried over several years, and none of them have done what they're advertised to do. I think I'm done wasting my money...

Clone operation is risky as disk and file corruption can happen during the operation. Having said that Acronis TI does support cloning and offers a tool with which to do so. Best practice is to always perform a clone operation outside of the Windows environment. If you attempt clone on a live disk (booted operating system) your chances of file/disk corruption are greatly increased.

The recommended steps to perform a clone using Aconis TI can be found here.

You will need to describe all steps taken in clone attempts as well as your machine specifications, desktop or laptop. I cannot make recommendations without details.

I did exactly what the instructions say to do, using the defaults when available. It would be senseless to retype those steps here. I've tried probably a dozen times over the weekend, with no useful results.

A copy of the Acronis System Report is attached. I hope that helps.

Gene,

Are you saying you are able to boot the computer on the recovery CD and then the cloning operation fails?

Yes, I am. For what it's worth, I just successfully cloned a non-system drive on the same computer with no problem.

OK, but the recovery CD wouldn't reboot the computer. Does it?
