File Backup Scheme does not work
For my daily file Backup Scheme, I have set the following settings:
File Backup
Backup Scheme
custom Scheme
Backup Method
Incremental
Checked: Create Full Version every 6 incremental versions
Store no more than 2 recent version chains
Checked: Do not delete the first version of the backup
---------------------------------------------------------------
The above is the setup in order to try to get no more than 2 full backups, each with 6 incremental versions. Instead, it continues to created the full backups, each having 6 incremental versions. Presently, I have 6 groupings and counting. (i.e. xx_full_b1_s1_v1.tib, xx_full_b2_s1_v1.tib, xx_full_b3_s1_v1.tib, etc. each of these have 6 associated incremental versions).
All other settings and tabs sections have been left as default.
What else has to be set in order to get only 2 groupings?

I am going to start over now that I have everything set correctly. I had Automatic Cleanup turned off, but will now turn it ON.
Question: If at a future time, the incrementals are being created for b3, can I delete the b2's manually without harming the backup capability or recovery.
If so, how is this deletion done? Normally, I would just open the external drive and delete the series from there? Would this work?
Thanks

In order to have success with your backup creation, create a new task with all the correct settings and leave it alone. Making changes causes the task to fail or the changes will not be what you expect.
With autumatic cleanup enabled, you will not need to do manual deletion but if you do, they must be done from within the program as illustated in the link below.
GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'
This is an example of the task except, you can change the keep 4 to your preferred keep 2.
GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains.
After b4 full is created, chain 2 will be deleted. 7 backups later,
B5 full will be created and chain 3 will be deleted. 7 backups later
B6 full will be created and chain 4 will be deleted, etc and ongoing.
When performing manual deletions (via the program), the numeric sequence of inc's within the backup must be maintained.
