No support from Dr Acronis (you are on your own).

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone,
In the middle of December I had a complete mental breakdown and purchased a copy of ATI2010 Then in a really stupid moment of madness I loaded said item onto my PC, this had a very unexpected result, in that Acronis does not run or do what is says on their web site, since then I have sent various messages to Dr Acronis, who it seems is on vacation and is not expected to return this side of next Christmas! (he's probably spending all the money he made on those silly little silver and blue plastic discs).
I can feel a bad moment comming on again! I will now ask a very silly question :- Has anyone else had problems with ATI2010, I know this is a difficut question to answer but please consider it carefully.
My problem is absolutely nothing will complete on (Acronis) without freezing the PC, I have tried everything I have seen on various parts of the forum but it still does the same thing.
Now any help from you guys who may have had similar problems and overcome them, will be very much appreciated.
Scottie.

It would be helpful to have some more information about the PC you are using, OS you are using, hardware, etc

Is the PC freezing up when you have booted off the Recovery disk?

Hello Scottie,

We're terribly sorry for the delay with the response.

Because of the latest major changes in Windows Vista and Windows 7 native snapshot driver (VolSnap), there were some modifications introduced in Acronis True Image Home 2010 (starting from Build 6029). The Acronis native snapshot driver (snapman) was moved from UpperFilters to LowerFilters to avoid conflicts with VolSnap (which could have lead to backups failure or data corruption in backups). This change may sometimes manifest itself in a freezing Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system on machines with rare software and hardware configurations.

To solve the issue, install a special driver update with fixes on the machine:

After that please reboot and the issue should be fixed.

Please let me know if the issue is not resolved, I'll be glad to assist you further.

Thank you.

Hi Tatou,
I am using good old Vista and its a Pentium3 dual core Penryn cpu, motheboard is a Asus P5N-E SLI running Kasperky internet security, also have Spy-Bot, I have tried with all disabled but still the same and I do not run it from the rescue disc as there are a number of young users who wont be able to carry out that type of procedure, I also expect it run run in vista (which it should really!) any help greatly appreciated.

looks like I may now need to reload Acronis?? If I do this will probably mess up the drivers loaded with the patch you supplied?

Hello Scottie,

I have replied to your Private Message and requested some additional information.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I posted a new thread in the backup & recovery section yesterday, re true image home 2010 with plus pack

Do you have a new build/patch, or will uninstalling the pluspack help?

I can't recover from 2nd drive whereas the exact same system worked with trueimage11

Come on, response needed

Hello Norrie,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

I deleted the post in the Acronis Backup&Recovery section to avoid the duplicating, here is the copy:

Hate to make the forum sound like a broken record but I am also a long term user of Acronis, never had single problem until today. Trying my first recovery and I am getting the error code: Recovery of a 4 GB or Bigger File to a FAT32 Destination Fails.

System has 2 identical samsung 750GB disks with NTFS formatted, one with OS and the other with just the TIB file

quadcore Q9450 with 4gb ram

1. Learnt the hard way about TI wiping EASYBCD boot loader out.
2. TI iso did not work at all
3. Had to reload Win7 from scratch and install TI2010 with pluspack to attempt to recover my files
4. Unable to recover files due to the 4gb error thrown out as desribed above.
5. Fortunately I can MOUNT the image and manually drag files across. This is tedious and IMPERFECT, i am not getting everything

Any gurus have hints to be able to recover normally?
This software does not work as sold. I was offered the upgrade touting the integration with Win7.
(specifically the implication that it would work with VHD files, which it does not in any useful way)
Will TI 11 home work with win7?

According to the error message, you tried to recover the files to a partition that has FAT 32 file system. FAT32 supports 4 GB file size. Could you please check the file system of the destination partition? You can do it by means of Disk Management utility: (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management).

If the above statement is wrong, could you please let us know the partition you want to restore the file to and could you please obtain Acronis report?

Please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.
This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

The disks are both NTFS, I have attached a screenshot of disk manager, plus the generated acronis report

I need to have confidence in this product. Judging by the slew of complaints on this board the current build is a bad beta.

I can apparently backup okay, but no recovery. Thankfully I was able to mount the TIB file as a disk and pull the files off.

The TIB file is on drive D: and I had to reload win7 completely with applications to drive C: as it was completely borked after a non-recovery

*this time when I re-installed I also (read other posts) got an invalid serial number for the plus pack only. However it did install. Not sure if I need it, or if it is causing problems

**I use diskeeper 2009 but it is shut off, service killed, before trying acronis (read on forum that can't defrag at the same time)

Hello,

Thank you for the provided information. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
The issue you are experiencing is unknown. First of all, please try ISOLINUX Bootable Media.
There are two types of Acronis Bootable Media:
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can generate in your Acronis product. This type of media is based on Acronis Loader;
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can download from your account on the Acronis website. This type of media is based on ISOLINUX.
ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.
We have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.
You can find the information on how to download the appropriate ISOLINUX file in this article. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.
Please create the new CD and check its functionality.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
