2014 True Image Pro timeout not working for user interaction

Thread needs solution

Hi

We are backing up to multiple removable drives. One drive for each day of the week. we are doing that so the automated clean-up works. Each drive is mapped to a different drive letter.

If one forgets to swap drives, Acronis can't find the path and prompts for he drive (a new path or cancel). the issue is the job stays queued indefinitely waiting on user interaction. I was using the 10 min default TMO and changed it to 15 min (to see if maybe it needed to be modified to get Acronis' attention).

nothing is working, suggestions?

Thx Ron

As TrueImage ties its backup tasks to a specific destination device, in order to make your daily switch work, you would need to have a different backup task for each different disk.

The weekly schedule could set each disk for a specific different day of the week and when that particular day of the week arrives, the task for that day ties to only that specific disk.

The first task for each disk would be a full backup. It would be possible to set up each task for automatic cleanup using only full; or full plus inc: or full plus Dif. The option to achieve the cleanup would be the "stor x number of recent chains."

A few reminder options.

Use MVP MudCrab's Drive Notify program which pops a reminder on the screen prior to the backup and will not allow the program to proceed untile the CORRECT pre-designated disk is attached and recognized. More info about Drive Notify can be found inside my signature link 1, index item 4A inside that link.

You might want to consider using Windows Scheduler to execute a daily message reminder prior to the scheduled time to switch the disks.\

Use the 'disk backup options pre/post command pre command to remind you to change/insert the disk.

Another alternative is also signature link 1, item 4-A.

As things are not working, you will need to start over with a fresh set of backup tasks--a different task for each disk.

Below is some example of backup schemes which would work. Adjust the figures to your needs except do use the "store X number" for the cleanup option. In essence, each disk would be an individual chain if you plan on keeping inc or dif type backups.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains).
GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains.
GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains.

The above would be applicable to file backups; disk backups; partition backups.
