Some beginner questions

Thread needs solution

Dear sirs, recently I've got Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore. What software do you advise to install?, I mean that I suppose Universal Restore will be more usefull in case that the hardware from the machine changes. Now I've installed Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 without Universal Restore.
Also, I've installed the product in a server and I want to backup the same server; is there any problem of install the Acronis software in the same server that (may be someday) you want to restore?.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Eloy,

Thank you for posting your questions, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Actually, you should install Acronis Universal Restore to have an opportunity to recover the archives to a dissimilar hardware. You can create the archive without installing  Acronis Universal Restore, it doesn't influence the archive functionality. But if you want to create Acronis Bootable Media with Acronis Universal Restore been included, you should install this add-on. Or you can download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account, we have implemented the possibility to download the file (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.

You can find the information on how to download the appropriate ISOLINUX file in this article. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.
If you want to save the archives onto the same computer, you should place them to another than the source partition. Otherwise, the backup file will be very large and its integrity will be in question. Furthermore, if the source partition fails, you will loose your backup file also.

If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
