"unknown error has occurred" when deleting backup versions

Thread needs solution

I am trying to delete old backup versions, but am getting the message "An unknown error has occurred" with an event code of 0x00640232+0x01E50010+0x000B0001. The Acronis website offers no info on this error code.

Some background. My backup plan called for creating a full backup every 7 days with incremental versions every day, and deletion of version strings older than 30 days. After my HD started filling up, I changed plan to delete version strings older than 15 days. However, after two days I did not see any versions deleted. I tried to delete manually by going to Backup and Recovery, right clicking on gear, chosing "Recover files", and then right clicking the oldest version that I see listed (12 April), and choosing Delete Version. It gives me warning about "Do you want to delete ... ", and I choose "Delete anyway." Then the error message pops up (See first attachment). The details of the error message are shown in attachments 2 and 3. The My backups directory showing full and incremental backups is shown in the last attachment.

Any help you can offer with this error message will be appreciated. Is some Acronis file that keeps up with versions corrupt? What should I do next?

Thanks,
Walt

At this point, I don't know of a fix for your current situation.
My suggestion is to stop using your current backup scheme based on number of elapsed days, and instead, create a new chain based on "Store x number of chains. Your 30 days setting would be about the same as "store no more than 4 recent versions chains (1 chain = 1full +6 inc or 28 files). Or, the 15 day set t ing would about "store no more than 2 recent chains (2 x 7=14 files).

Using the "elapsed days" option is consolidation and the merging of data and the elimination of files.
You would have much better results using the "Store X" option.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. Automatic cleanup after "Store X" is reached Change the 6 and 4 to fit your needs.

GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'

H20. Remove Unwanted Single Task from Task Menu Listing
