Windows keeps personalizing my settings after recovery

Thread needs solution

Every so often when I recover a 32-bit XP image onto one of my computers using 32-bit acronis 11.5, windows will personalize all of my settings. When it does this, the computer will be different from the image that it was made from. My desktop will be cleared except for the recycle bin which will now be on the other side of the desktop and my start menu will be set back to the default (I had changed it around so that most things were not visible before and now they are). I am not sure if any other settings might have been reset from this, but in the image there were a lot of settings to lock down some of the users from doing things that they shouldn't be doing.

When I do my recovery, the settings that I choose are "Change SID after recovery" and "Select Automatically" for the NT signature. I am recovering this to a Physical machine that has similar hardware to the computer that the image was made from.

If anyone can give me any advice on why it keeps personalizing my settings (this only does this occasionally and restoring the image again will not fix it) or what I can do to stop this from happening it would be appreciated.

Hello SubRat,

You don't need to change SID and NT signature if you are recovering your image to the same machine.

Please create a new recovery task with disabled option "change SID after recovery" and recover NT signature from the backup.

Thank you.
