Disk Mode
Is there a way to set Disk mode as the default backup mode?
Thank you,

Thank you for the info Grover. I am new here and new to Acronis.
Best regards,

A review of my signature links 2A, 3 and 8 woudl be beneficial. I will try to respond to your other post sometime hopefully tonight.

I am glad that you are looking to do full disk mode Backups. As Grover says, sadly it is not the default (we wish it were). But, it takes just a little care to ensure that you create a full disk mode Backup.
Create a full disk mode Backup, selecting the checkbox for the entire disk (not just individual partitions). That ensures that you have everything you need, and you won't need to understand how the disk is laid out with possible hidden partitions. A full disk mode Backup captures everything, and is the simplest, safest backup method.

Thank you Grover and Tuttle for your responses, and for the valuable info, tips and encouragement ~:)
last night I completed backup of all 5 HDDs of my main PC to a 2TB HP external drive. It was my 2nd
attempt. I did not like the way that the drives were labeled after the first attempt so I deleted the backups
and started over ~:(
I have a few Acronis questions >
When doing FULL backups when there are identical (models) HDDs on the PC, how do we "mark" them
in Acronis so we can tell which is which on the list? The only way I've been able to tell them apart so far
is to examine the size of the data backed up, which is rather awkward? Is there a feature that allows adding
text notes to the FULL backups, or adjusting the filename? I realize that adjusting the filename after the backup
would be a no, no, and the last time I set a custom filename before backup, after the backups were completed
the backup labels (names) didn't match the backed up data.
Also, what is the proper procedure to Mount / Unmount a backup. I've had no trouble mounting a backup and
reviewing the files / folders. However I have not been able to gracefully "unmount". I've found it necessary to
reboot the PC to accomplish an "unmounts".
Best regards,
Ken

You should add a recognizable label to every disk, so you can uniquely identify it without the drive letter. When recovering a disk or partition image, it's recommended to do so from the ATI bootable Rescue Media. As the Rescue Media is based on Linux, disks will enumerate differently so that E: in Windows may not be E: in the Rescue Media. That's why you need to be able to identify each partition by name, not by letter.
That tip is discussed in many tutorials and many forum posts. So, if you spend more time reading you will learn many such useful tips.

Thank you for the disk labeling tip Tuttle. All my disks do have unique names (labels); however these don't show
on the Drives list for drives that have been backed up using the FULL method. Can't even see the Labels by Right
Clicking in a drive's box (I'm referring to the drives that appear on the "Backup and recovery" tab).
Well I found a satisfactory means of accessing the files and folders that does not involve "Mounting" (and disMounting) :
>On the Backup and Recovery tab Right Click on the desired drive on the (backed up) drives list
>Left Click on "Open Location"
>At the "Location", Double Click on the *.tib filename (or Right Click and select "Open")
Alternate (easier) procedure :
>Navigate to the backup drive (media) in Explorer and double click on it ~:)
It would not surprise me if this is detailed elsewhere here, but I haven't seen it and it was a revelation
to newbee me.
Best to all,
Ken

One easy way to access your storage folder is right off the main menu listing of backup tasks as per this link.
GH4. Illustrate Manual Backup Now option or Repeat backups.
Note that inside each active task in the upper left corner of the the task , the destination folder is listed.
Simply click on the destination folder lnk and you are inside the storage folder and clicking any of the tib files will open that backup file for review or copying.

One method I use to exclude lots of data on the disk where exclusions are desired.
I created a single folder (named Storage)on the directory tree of that disk.
I then used moved all the files/folders (to be excluded) inside the storage folder. Then it was easy to just list the "H:\storage\" as the what was to be excluded and the data excluded was many GB.
