how do i do a restore?
I need step-by-step how-to on how to do a restore using true image 11. I made a complete backup of vista before upgrading to win7 and want to go back to vista. I read the users manual and I'm still a bit lost on what to do for a complete restore. I'm looking for something like:
1.open acronis
2. click ??
3. click on ??
as so on.
I've been playing with this for the last 16 hours and at a point of just restoring back to vista. Frustrated doesn't come close to my mental state right now.
Thanks for any and all help and suggestions.

Thanks Fungus. I do have an acronis rescue cd. My computer is not broken. What happened was I upgraded from vista to win7 and lost all my emails. Everything else transferred over with no issues, including 1000's of pictures, spreadsheets, word documents, etc. Just not the emails. I did a complete backup using vista and True Image 11 before upgrading to win7. I was thinking if I do a win7 backup, then I do a restore to vista, copy all the emails, contacts, etc, then do a win7 restore and paste the emails onto the win7 folders. I just don't know where in windows mail to find the emails or where in windows live mail to paste them to.
-OR-
Is there a procedure to copy the emails from the backup and paste them so windows live mail can find them.

I read Grovers Beginners Guide to Restore and also the Acronis user manual. One says to use the rescue cd, the other says to go through the Acronis True Image 11 program. I'm confused, flustered, and frustrated.
Give me a Corvette with a problem any day of the week over this!!!

It all depends on what email program you are using and where the W7 version is looking for the email.
I would bet that your restore put them on the drive, but "where" is the question. Your W7 email may have a different folder or file where it is looking than where it was in Vista.
Try this: Find out where W7 version email is stored. Get the folder and file specifics.
Now try to explore your TIB file using Win Explorer. If that doesn't work, try to mount the TIB file as a drive letter.
Now look in the same place in the folder structure to see if you can find the Vista version of email messages.
If found, copy them to the folder that the W7 version is using.
If this doesn't work, go work on your Corvette for a while.
