HD Activity While Idle

Thread needs solution

This morning I made one full and one differential backup with TI 10, and both were successful. While I was working later this morning, I noticed that the USB HD I had used to create the backups was active, even though no backup was, as far as I know, scheduled.

Is there some reason why my computer is writing to my back-up drive even though I'm not using the continuous back-up function?

Thanks for the advice.

If you meant TI 2010 (not TI 10) then the PC may be indexing the contents of the backup files on your external drive. Eventually the index will complete and disk activity will stop.

If you don't want this then you could turn off indexing on the drive or exclude .tib files from being indexed.

Steve:

The only downside is that you will not be able to use Windows Search to quickly find a file in a backup archive. But you can still explore the archive manually if you want to find a file.
