Deduplicate backup and secondary off site backup
Hi,
Have a SBS server running Acronis Essentials and a storage node (windows 7) with Advanced Backup. Server is about 300GB of data and the first backup takes about 170GB with a 157 GB database. Deduplication happens on the storage node after the backup. I would like to replicate the backups to a secondary site ( or storage node). Unfortunately the upstream speed of the internet connection is only 1.5 mb/s. Moving 170GB database would take almost a week at this speed.
I have used replication software that only tracks changed/added/deleted files (it appears I can replicated a differential backup in about 2 hours including changes to the database). Can I used the files from the 3rd party sync software? Does Acronis have a similar feature or can I use? I do not have any experience with the Acronis off site technology.
Can I seed the 2nd location local to an external hard drive or bring the storage node local to the primary storage node? Does the database get transferred in its entirety or is only the change portions of the database transferred to the 2nd location.
In regards to the 3rd party sync software, could I attach the replicated backups and database to a stand alone storage node with its own management server?
