Merge multiple partition backups into one on restore?

Thread needs solution

Windows XP Pro SP3
TI Home 2009

My oldest PC has 3 HDs, each with a single partition, and I've been doing image backups on it with TI Home 2009 for a long time.

I'm planing to replace it in the spring and will probably have only one HD in the new box.

Is there a procedure for restoring the backup from the 3 HDs onto just one?

Is there some special sort of backup I can do just before pulling the plug on the old box to make the process either possible or easier?

If you don't need to migrate the operating system with all installed program, just restore the 'as files' to some three different folders on the new disk. Othrewise, restore the system disk 'as volume' with mbr and the other two as files.

Neat. I didn't know there was an option to selectively restore a backed up partition as files.

That should certainly do what I need.
